28th Fastest Growing County In the Nation Montgomery County, Texas Seat: Conroe Montgomery County is the 28th fastest growing county in America based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for all counties that began the new century with more than ten thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates. Montgomery County which was founded in 1837, had already grown
in population to 293,768 by the year 2000. But in the six
years that marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the
county increased the number of inhabitants by 35.6 percent
bringing the estimated total population in July 2006 to
398,290. |
