Lincoln County, Missouri
Seat: Troy
Lincoln County is the 68th fastest growing county in the US
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for
all counties that began the century with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Lincoln County which was established in 1818, grew in
population to 38,946 by the year 2000. In the six years that
marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased
the number of inhabitants by 28.7 percent bringing the
estimated total population in July 2006 to 50,123.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made Lincoln
County the second fastest growing county in the Show Me State
of Missouri and the 68th fastest in the nation.
The median value for a home within the 630 square mile
jurisdiction of Lincoln County was $102,200 in 2000 but the
Bureau had no statistics on home value for 2006. Determining
how the rapid growth may have affected the value of homes in
the area is difficult but the current auctions that follow
should give some indication.
