Boone County, Kentucky
Seat: Catlettsburg
Boone County is the 71st fastest growing county in the US
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for
all counties that began the century with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Boone County which was established in 1860, grew in population
to 85,989 by the year 2000. In the six years that marked the
beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number
of residents by 28 percent bringing the estimated total
population in July 2006 to 110,080.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made Boone
County the second fastest growing county in the Bluegrass
State of Kentucky and the 71st fastest in the country.
The median value for homes within the 160 square mile
jurisdiction of Boone County was $131,800 in 2000 but the
Bureau had no estimates on home value for 2006. Determining
how the rapid growth may have affected the value of homes in
the area is difficult but the current auctions that follow
should give some indication. |
