73rd Fastest Growing County In the Nation
Wright County, Minnesota
Seat: Buffalo
Wright County is the 73rd fastest growing county in the US
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for
all counties that began the century with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Wright County which was founded in 1855, grew in population to
89,993 by the year 2000. In the six years that marked the
beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number
of residents by 27.6 percent bringing the estimated
total population in July 2006 to 114,787.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made Wright
County the third fastest growing county in the Land of 10,000
Lakes and the 73rd fastest county in the US.
The median value for a home within the 661 square mile
jurisdiction of Wright County was $135,300 in 2000 but the
Bureau had no statistics on home value for 2006. Determining
how the rapid growth may have affected the value of homes in
the area is difficult but the current auctions that follow
should give some indication of the bargains still available. |
