This North American native deciduous tree provides 3-4" diameter white bracts in Mid-Spring surrounding a small cluster of yellow-green flowers that give way to orange-red berries in Summer until eaten by songbirds, including cardinals and robins. Also, attracts pollinators. Its foliage is rich green that turns to shades of rich red to purple-red in the Fall on a broad, upright rounded shape canopy. Mature trees display an attractive scaly gray to dark gray, or brown bark in Winter that adds interest. They grow at a rate of about 12-24" per year. Ideal specimen tree, groupings, rows lining your driveway or property, outdoor spaces like patio, porches, decks for shade, framing corners of your home, and entry ways. Always a visual standout.

Planting-General	Likes sand, loam, silt and clay (amended) soil. Moist but well drained. Soil pH range 5.5 to 6.5. Slightly acidic to acidic.

Watering	Average, low once established. Can add Root Stimulation which helps early root development and strengths roots, as well as, reduces plant shock when planting.
Fertilizing	Feed in early spring with slow release fertilize for shrubs & trees.
Pruning	Minimum amount needed. Prune in the Fall, or Winter after the leaves have dropped. Remove dead, damaged branches along with any cross or inward growing branches. Avoid pruning more than 15-20% in a single year.
Deer	Deer do not favor their taste. If in a high deer area, spray every 3 to 6 months with deer repellent.
