still working to help God make this World a better place

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the Jerusalem Bible we read, “Mary has chosen the better part”

What Martha was doing was good. However, Mary chose the better option.

Listening to Jesus was more important than any amount of household chores.

How do you try to listen to Jesus Christ?

I try by reading the Gospels, listen to my conscience, looking around to see what the people I know seem to need and responding as well as I can. After all, Jesus said, " what you do to the least of mine, you do unto me."

God is incarnate in everyone. Deut 6,4 “loving God with all our heart” and Leviticus 19,18,”love your neighbour as yourself,” mesh into a unity.

I like – and have it attached to the bottom of my computer -  St Richard of Chichester’s prayer, ”may we know you, dear friend and brother, more clearly, love you more dearly and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen.”

Every day, let’s try to be more like Jesus Christ; cheerful and encouraging; spreading the kingdom of love and hope in the hearts of so many who are worried and concerned with the way the world is  trundling on through time. Besides, hope and joy slows down the ageing process!
