still working to help God make this World a better place
“The Samaritan fell on his face, giving thanks.”
The nine Jewish cured lepers would have gone to the Temple and its priests in Jerusalem.
The one Samaritan would have gone to the priests at Mount Gerizim, which Samaritans considered the holiest place on earth, not Jerusalem.
I can imagine how the nine would have congratulated each other – and celebrated their cure.
On his own, the Samaritan would have reflected on his cure and, overwhelmed with gratitude, he had to go to Jesus to thank Him.
As the decades of my life have increased, my gratitude for all I have – and have had – has mounted.
I no longer take anything for granted. My conversation with Yesh is punctuated with thanks. Gratitude enriches life.
I am grateful for the state of my 86 year old PIES: the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of my life.
I thank God for the SONG of life: my self, others, nature and God. I am hugely grateful for my physical and mental health, the smiles of people I meet, the beauty of trees - especially in Autumn - and the personality of Jesus Christ.
Grace before and after meals is lovely. How about - like me – you thank God for the day to come as, every morning, you get out of bed?
Being here with you every Sunday is – for me - a eucharist: a thanksgiving. So, thanks.
