90th Fastest Growing County In the Nation
Rutherford County, Tennessee
Seat: Murfreesboro
Rutherford County is the 90th fastest growing county in the US
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for
all counties that began the century with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Rutherford County which was founded in 1803, grew in
population to 182,023 by the year 2000. In the six years that
marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased
the number of residents by 25.7 percent bringing the
estimated total population in July 2006 to 228,829.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made
Rutherford County the second fastest growing county in the
Volunteer State of Tennessee and the 90th fastest in the
nation.
The median value for homes within the 619 square mile
jurisdiction of Rutherford County was $113,500 in 2000 but the
Bureau had no statistics on home value for 2006. Determining
how the rapid growth may have affected the value of homes in
the area is difficult but the current auctions that follow
should give some indication of the bargains still available. |
