April 2024 (Part 05) Boston Trip We headed up to Boston in late April to see Denny and Cindy for a weekend (well, three days). We went for a walk through Newburyport on Saturday, then enjoyed a dinner at their house with Cindy's nephews (Steve and Andy) and their wives, along with her good friend Anne. Delighted to meet Rebecca, Steve and Denise's daughter.
On Sunday morning, we went for a hike around Maudslay State Park, which bordered the Merrimack River.
Went to the Red Sox-Cubs game that evening. The Sox won 5-4. They were up through the 8th inning, when the Cubs tied it up to make it exciting. Unfortunately, Boston scored in the bottom of the 9th to end the game and win the series 2-1. At least we hadn't been there on Sat, when they won 17-0, yep that's right. The Cubs' starter had been injured and they pitched by committee, including using two field players to pitch in the 8th when it was clear the game was way out of reach. But they did win the first game 7-1.
We didn't know who this was and a lot of younger people kept coming by to take excited selfies with him in the background, so we had to send a picture to the kids. They quickly reported back that it was Noah Kahan, a country singer, was there to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
