May 2025 (Part 01) Andy's Appalachian Trail Hike Through Shenandoah National Park Andy set off to hike the Appalachian Trail its 108 mile length through Shenandoah National Park. Steve and he drove to drop his car near where the trail exits the park on the north end near Front Royal, then headed together to the south entrance, getting there only 30-40 minutes before sunset. Andy went only a 1/4 mile down the trail before finding a site to set up camp. Steve managed to get home around 10 PM after about six hours on the road. They took a couple quick pictures before Andy was off.
We tried to take a screen shot of where was stopped every night. He certainly picked up his pace toward the end. He said he had several storms come through at night, but didn't really get too wet until he had to hike most of the day in rain on the last day. Glad he had a great time.
Andy sent this picture of his view with one of his first campsites.
