March 2023 (Part 04) Spring Break in Cancun, Mexico: Day 4: Snorkeling and Moon Palace Rather than spending a whole day at the resort, we all voted to go snorkeling in the afternoon and headed out with a group to go to the reefs just offshore (about 600 m or more, so a boat was needed to reach them). Had to get the obligatory group photo before heading out.
They had an underwater photographer along, who managed to get some decent pictures of our group. He also applied a filter or otherwise took out the green tint our pictures had. Since it was a larger group and we hadn't discussed beforehand if we wanted to buy any pictures, we were really impressed with how many pictures he captured of our group, and yes, we gladly paid for the images.
Liked some of his pictures of the sea life too.
The guide explained they are trying to grow two different types of corral here and will re-home them to help grow and protect the reef.
Steve did manage to get some decent pictures of us with the GoPro.
Here are some more clipped from the GoPro videos.
There is a really long, narrow fish in the last image below ... barracuda??
Had to take a snap of these posters afterward if we were to have any chance to identify anything.
We enjoyed the hammocks at their beach before leaving.
Ran into a number of iguanas when we got back to the resort.
While Lexi took a well deserved nap, the other three played putt-putt on a surprisingly great course at the hotel, followed by dinner at the Italian restaurant.
That night was the "Fire Show" on the beach.
Here are some images from the GoPro
Here are some images Lexi took with the waterproof Nikon.
