January 2023 (Part 04) A Weekend In Houston: Galveston For our last day, we headed south to Galveston and the Gulf of Mexico. It was a rather overcast day and pretty windy, leading to an interesting view of the ocean.
We headed to Moody Gardens, which had an aquarium, rainforest and discovery pyramids. The aquarium was surprisingly great, with several huge tanks, two different penguin exhibits, and more.
As usual, we were fascinated by a jellyfish exhibit. The LED lights were slowly cycling between different colors, from blue to purple to red then white.
They also had a octopus which was really active.
The rainforest pyramid was very open and wonderful, with a number of beautiful exotic birds flying around.
There was an interesting cage with fruit bats, which were still flying around during the day.
There were also a number of orchids.
We had a great Tex-Mex lunch in Galveston before heading to the airport. Had to take this picture to show Alexa. The columns were all book bindings.
