September 2023 (Part 01) Labor Day Weekend (Part 1) After realizing we hadn't been to the beach for longer than a four day weekend, we decided to stretch Labor Day weekend to five days. Took Tank with us. He had given us a pretty good scare the week before, essentially not eating for much of the week, including two days at daycare over the weekend when we went to North Carolina to see Cathy, Ken and Sandra and go to Lazy Days. Unsure if his stomach was upset due to the chemo or something else, but this caused a spiral with his diabetes as we couldn't give him insulin. He essentially couldn't walk when we picked him up. He spent the next day at the vet and they gave him IV fluids and anti-nausea meds. Thankfully, he made a pretty rapid recovery. At the beach, he even got to go swimming twice.
A great swim the first night at sunset.
Byrna stopped by with Zola, who surprised Bryna by walking in the water a bit and getting thoroughly full of sand.
We couldn't get him out. Andy finally threw a stick for him to get which was close enough to grab him.
A very happy but very tired dog. Love this last picture. He started walking like he wanted to go swimming again when Steve let him out. Guess he was really feeling better.
Saw this face in the door every time we left with our kayaks, like he knew we were headed to the beach he can swim at.
Several of our friends were able to join us for the weekend, with the Douglas's arriving first. We took them kayaking and were delighted to spot two eagles.
This is actually the moon rise, just after sunset.
On Monday, with everyone gone, we went out kayaking with Andy and headed up Dirickson Creek, getting almost to the narrow creek before turning around so Andy could get to work on time in the afternoon. We were in the double while he took one of the singles. Enjoyed this egret along the shore.
Here is a blue heron.
