June 2023 (Part 05) Boating on the Potomac River We enjoyed an amazing afternoon on the Potomac in mid-June with the Ghyzels. The weather was a bit sketchy, with thunderstorms expected early in the evening. We figured we could always come in early and that at least we would have been on the water. First we headed to Wade's Bay off Purse State Park on the Maryland shore. We found a good number of shark's teeth. We had to endure a five minute rain shower, but we had just made it back to the boat and it provided a good opportunity to have a snack. The Gyzels found more than we did.
On the way back, we spotted an Eagle just before Mallows Bay, then another, then another. In all, we think we saw four or five adults and two or three juveniles. They were clearly congregating around something on the shore, likely a dead fish. We couldn't get too close without them taking off, but they wouldn't fly too far away either. So wish we'd grabbed the good camera with a long lens, as these were shot with the iPhone.
