September 2024 (Part 06) DE Beach Time We went out to the beach the weekend after we got back from Ireland. Tank enjoyed the ride out and was sure happy to be back.
We went out the beach over the last weekend in September. Steve woke up near dawn and took these pictures before going back to bed.
The Ghyzels joined us for the weekend and voted to head up to Cape Henlopen State Park, where we walked round the Fort Miles historic site and a couple nearby trails.
We also had much needed beach time.
Felt like we were being watched by flocks of birds as we walked on the beach. Had to take a picture of this weird mushroom.
The left Sunday morning and we headed to Ocean City for the Oceans Calling Music Festival. This was a three day music festival on the beach. Steve really wanted to go see a couple of the bands, especially the Dave Matthews Band and Blues Traveler, both of whom were playing on Sunday. We parked at the Convention Center then rode our bikes the rest of the way. Unbelievably crowded. At least we weren't there on Friday when it rained ... a lot. The event was held across three stages. We decided it was easier to just stay at the Rockville Stage, as all of the acts were ones Steve enjoyed. So, we found a good spot on the sand and spread out beach tarp. Glad we brought a backgammon game, as it was a long day. We left toward the end of the last act there and made out way to the main Sea Bright stage for Dave Matthews.
